Hello Beautiful!

The Hello Beautiful kit by The Fairy Tale club is the perfect compliment to my daughter’s Homecoming. Everything from trying on dresses for the dance to the big night goes with this kit! I actually ordered this separately because I had the perfect pictures for it. Once it arrived and I saw all the cute little deer I knew I had even more uses for it! Check out what I was able to create with it!

Everyday Magic

The last weekend of summer break we went up north to escape the heat and spend one last day together before school resumed. One of our stops was at the Deer Farm.

Fairest of Them All

I have mentioned a few times that my daughter is like Snow White in that she communicates with animals like no other. The deer were following her everywhere. It could be because she had food, but we all had food for them. They just liked her best.

True Beauty

Ironically I was having so much fun documenting our trip to the Deer Farm that I forgot about the reason I purchased the kit! Once it dawned on me I created two pages. The first is of my daughter trying on dresses (goofy and all!).

Beautiful Life!

I did not know how I was going to get all of these photos on the same page, but I knew I needed too! I just started layering and they all came together.

My Favorite Car

Funny and heart warming story about this one. I took a close up of the journaling for you to read. The sassy sayings are from Ink Road Stamps — Sass Master set. If you order anything using the link I just provided you will get 15% off your total!

Final Touchs

I really do not add much to these kits by The Fairytale Club. They can be a bit busy, so I always have coordinating card stock. I ink the edges a lot and use pop dots to amp up the style. I almost always add Crystal Drops to everything that comes out of my craft room that is paper related. Here are my top 12 picks!

Practically Perfect!

Back Story

As some of you may know I have a goal to catch up on my scrap booking. Originally I got in this industry because of it. When my Mom was admitted to ICU with a staph infection and triple by pass surgery, I had to take a step back. She lived in another state and I had three little ones under the age of 6. Between caring for her and my family I had to set my design teams and the industry aside. It broke my heart because I truly loved it.

Well Meaning Friend

Nine years later I reluctantly came back. The industry had changed so much! It was not all about scrap booking anymore, but mixed media. A well meaning friend told me my layouts were “not where it was at” (I took that as meaning they were not good enough anymore). I took it to heart, got back into the industry and ended up three years behind in my album as of December 2018.

I really missed scrap booking and in January 2019 I made a goal to focus on it. Bring it back to my blogs. Use layouts to meet design team assignments. Apparently people do think scrap booking is still where it is at! I get more positive comments and interactions on my layouts than on any other things I do. As of today, I am entirely caught up on my scrapbook.

So What?

I share this backstory with you for two reasons. First, always stay true to your passion no matter what is in style or what people say. The intentions of others may be good, but sometimes they are dead wrong. Second, its not all about the money and making it in this industry that gives you value as a creative person. I am actually going to share with you a company that I am not affiliated with at all that I love!

I am not making a dime off of The Fairy Tale Club. In fact, I don’t even know if the owner of the company knows my name or even that I am sharing her great box on my blog. That’s okay with me. Creating these and sharing with you a wonderful resource makes me happy. I may not be able to cash that in at the bank, but I can be proud of staying true to me and passing on a great resource to others.

The Fairytale Club’s Practically Perfect Kit

The following layouts are from the Practically Perfect Kit.

There are many reasons why I opted to subscribe to these kits. First, I tend to scrap more if I am using a kit. I don’t know why. Maybe it is because it takes the guess work out of trying to dig through my stash to find the perfect coordinating products. The bright whimsical theme is present in all the kits. It is different and cute!

There are two things that I struggle with while using these kits. One is that it is a lot of paper products! In my opinion, I would rather swap out some of the die cuts, title cuts, and tags for a mist or a paint. With that being said I always use up most of it! The second is it is not monthly. I signed up for 12 months thinking I would get one every month for a year. Had I read more on the website because it is listed, I would have learned they don’t come out every month. I could be getting these kits randomly over the next two – three years. That’s kind of a big commitment. Regardless, I have thoroughly enjoyed them!

Imagination Layout

A random picture of my two youngest in Walmart masks lent itself well to this page. This was actually the first layout I created with the kit! The theme is Mary Poppins, but it works well with many different types of pictures.

Sprinkls

When we were in Georgetown on vacation we did a cupcake crawl through Sprinkles. Love how well the pinks coordinated with this picture. I backed one of the tags on glitter card stock to create a title.

For the Birds

My daughter is like Snow White in that she communicates with animals like no one else. She has no fear and bonded with this Cockatoo.

Jolly Holiday

Sibling love is priceless when caught on camera. These two have a great relationship!

Sass Master

Every time I think of Mary Poppins I think of sarcasm. There is no way someone actually thinks she is perfect. I played on that in the following two layouts.

Practically Perfect

I found the sarcastic sayings at Ink Road Stamps. If you click on Ink Road Stamps in this posts you will automatically get 15% off your order. How cool is that?

Leftovers

I make cards with the leftovers from these kits. I never know what to do with the transparency sheet that comes with them, so I designed a universal pattern to use them on cards. Here is a video created with leftovers and the transparency from this kit:

Extra Touches

To amp up the cards and layouts created using this kit I did two things. First, I used pop dots to add dimension. Second, I added Nuvo drops! I have created a list of my dozen favorite drops that I use on a regular basis.

This was a lot of fun! I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I liked creating it for you. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to ask!

Magical Theater Presents the Love Princess

Magical Theater, by Rita Barakat, is the base for creating the Love Princess. It is a downloadable book full of whimsy and magic. This is a wonderful art resource to have on your hard drive. Not only are there tips and directions on creating your own paper dolls, there are also a few scenes completed. For this project I used things created in the book and added the finishing touches.

The base is a piece of cardboard from a package I received in the mail. Mod Podge was used to seal and attach the scene to the cardboard. For the princess I used a foam board as her base to give her structure and dimension.

The finishing touches on the piece were a mix of glitter glue, Nuvo Dew Drops and gems from the dollar store.

I used Glitter Mod Podge for the Princess because she needs to shine! Bits of extra trim from my stash was used along the edges.

It is okay to borrow other people’s creativity to spark your own. Or, perhaps like me you want to create something from the heart, but are limited on time. The Magical Theater is a great resource to have!

Here is another piece I created using it.

Gorgeous Flat Cards with Aqua Flow!

I am on the Joy Clair blog today with this set of cards. I did a live video making them and was so impressed with them that I knew they needed to be on the company’s blog. The stamp set is gorgeous and this technique is stunning and quick.

It takes a lot to impress me regarding a flower stamp set. Martha’s Garden stamp set by Joy Clair nails it. This set is my favorite flower set I am currently using. I created a set of cards with it and Aqua Flow Markers for a lovely watercolor effect. To take it to the next level I heat embossed the image. This not only gave the card depth and a level of sophistication, it also created borders for the color to pool together. Once each of the cards were dry I added a few Nuvo Dew Drops to finish them off.

Here is a video tutorial on how to create these cards:

Here are the close ups of each of the cards created in the videoThis one is my favorite. I like the color combo and the lovely wash in the white space.

These were so much fun to create and they turned out beautiful. The concept of randomly adding color where I think the image would go was fun. For me, if I stamp the image and then color it in I would not get that loose watercolor feel to the card. I can not wait to play with this stamp set again! What will you create?

Bad Bad Girl Couture

A longtime favorite paper crafting subscription club on mine has recently changed directions and are discontinuing all their kits. I took advantage and purchased a few for 50% off. Bad Girls Couture created the edgiest vintage kits around. This is what I did with a couple of them.

For this page I used a stencil by Prima and Nuvo mouse to give it some texture. Layering was a big part of the success of it all. The little ribbon trim with gems was one of my favorite things included in the kit.

The same techniques were used to create this layout. The leaf is my favorite element on the page.

By incorporating simple techniques creating stunning pages is easy.
