Happy Singles Awareness Day!

Valentine’s Day is my least favorite holiday. Every year when it rolls around I groan a little. I don’t have any particular reason on why I do not like it. It does bring a smirk on my face when I can create sarcastic cards for it though. Joy Clair has a new stamp set that is perfect for all the folks out there who don’t like cupid and his holiday. It is perfectly title “#Single”. I created this card using the new stamp set:

How to Create “Happy Singles Awareness Day!” Card

Tim Holtz Distress Oxide is how I created the background. When working with water based pigments it is important to keep the color theory in mind. Basically you want to keep all your red undertone colors(warms) together and blue undertone colors (cools) together. If you mix them you will get mud. That is okay if it is the look you are going for, but if not don’t mix things like green and red. The color that is the exception to this rule is purple. The only colors you can mix purple with are red OR blue. If you mix it with any other color you will get mud for this card I stuck with pink, red and purple (on the bottom).

This card has a square cut out that was created to use as a shaker. It also looks cute with an image in the box. I stamped the hearts and colored them in. I finished them off with a little clear glaze by Nuvo and Dew Drops.

After the sentiment had been stamped on the bottom, three coordinating ones were stamped along the bottom and finished off with the Nuvo Clear Glaze.

If the card front was not enough to make the recipient giggle the inside is sure to do so.

Concord and 9th Turn About Stamping

I have been secretly lusting after the Turn About stamps by Concord and 9th. I need another stamp set like I need a hole in my head and have done a good job of holding off. Well, that is until I saw the new Bundle Up Stamp Set and coordinating dies! The sweet little girl faces had me, so I placed my order for them along with two Turn About Stamps. Though I adore my new stamps and have had so much fun playing with them there were two things that rubbed me wrong about them. First, the girls are not included with the coordinating die set! I had to fussy cut them out. I would have paid a few dollars more to get them. In fact, I may not have bought the dies had I known the girls were not in it. Secondly, the Turn About stamps were created for the Misti. I don’t have a Misti, but two other stamp platforms. I had to do some tweaking to get them to work, but finally figured it out. Now that I know how to use these on other platforms I will happily purchase more! For those of you that are interested in these stamps here is a video I created showing how to use these on other stamping platforms along with a few hints and tips.

Turn About Video

I used Rinea Foiled Paper  on each card and you can learn how to do that in the video as well!

This would be a perfect card for January!

The little bird sits perfectly on her bun, but her part line is very high and I preferred the bird  covering it.

It is so easy to make your card season just by switching up the ink colors!

Over all I really enjoyed the new (to me) stamp sets! They can be used for so many different occasions. It is a good value!

Halloween ATCs

Happy Halloween! I am sharing with you three sets of ATCs! gypsies makes these incredible file folders that are the perfect size to hold ATCs. Not much is needed on enhance their beauty.

I just added a few things from my stash to make them personal, yet still respecting the gorgeous art already present on them.

I first started with a piece of kraft pattern paper from CCB that had a bunch of great images perfect for ATC (an ATC is a 2.5 by 3.5 piece of paper that you decorate and trade).

As you can tell, these images are spectacular alone and nothing really is needed. I opted to enhance with foiling.

I placed the foil with the shiny side up. This is the backside.

 This is the top.

I placed it in a folded piece of copy paper.

….and ran it through my lamination machine.

The finished cards have just enough sparkle, but not too much.

Here is set one with the file folder:

 Set two:

 Set Three:

I tied them up with waxed twine and added a sweet charm to each.

These were part of a few Halloween cards I sent out to my crafty friends. I hope they had fun opening them 🙂

Around The World Blog Hop

Did you know that today is National Card Making Day? To celebrate Joy Clare is hosting a blog hop that I am super excited to be in. Please hop along with us! The blog links are listed below. Please leave a comment along the way too. We sure to appreciate those  🙂

I am sharing a Halloween card I created with The Web background stamp by Joy Clare and Tim Holtz paper and clip art.

I am a little embarrassed with how quickly this card came together. I think it took me 20 minutes.

I used white pigmented ink and clear embossing powder on the web to make it pop. I added pop dots to the owl and witch and finished the front off with some orange bling from my stash.

I used this sentiment on the inside of the card:

Here is the Blog Hop List! Jump in and have fun.

Get Batty with some Crazy Brids

One of the best stamps sets I have ever purchased is the Crazy birds by Tim Holtz! It comes with a slew of accessory stamps to customize with any season or holiday. Naturally I had to create a Halloween card with it!

I used Distress Markers to color in the bird and pumpkin and I think it works great with the background paper. The card came together rather quickly, but it looks like it took a lot of time. I love the web paper as a backdrop to the focal point.
