Temperatures should be warming up soon and I am dreaming of summer! In anticipation of warmer months I created a sweet little Mermaid card to give away to one of you 🙂
This card was a lot of fun to make! I used the fin background stamp from Joy Clair and embossed it with Rita Barakat Mermaid Fin Powder. I added colorburst to the fins. For the image I used a sentiment from a Pink and Main set and stamped it with this Rita Barakat stamp. Here is the video:
I want to give this card away to one of you! All you need to do is tell me in the comments what your favorite part of summer is! I will randomly pick a winner and announce on April 1st.
Below is a recent post for the Joy Clair blog I wrote. The saying that stuck out to me was “Save Us Now”. I recently have been praying for things and God has been telling me no. I fire back to the Almighty the reason I have trust issues with Him is because He tells me no. He then will remind me that He is not a genie in a bottle. I can’t just rub him, make a wish and BOOM I get it. He is the sovereign God that knows everything and all things work for good. My prayer has shifted from asking what I want to just “Save me now!” I knew that when I read this passage in Matthew 21 and saw that sentiment it was from Him. I stamped it over and over again as I cried out in my spirit to Him. Sure enough, the next day I thanked God for something he said no to me about. Had he said yes it would have been a disaster.
One of the things I have set out to do this year is get into Bible Journaling. God gave me a passion for art and a creative mind. It only makes sense that He would speak to me through it. Once a week I sit down for a few hours and create in my Bible. I always turn on praise and worship songs when I do it and just let my spirit go. My pages are not where I want them to be from an artistic point of view, but that’s okay. It is not so much about creating beautiful art as much as it communicating with my maker. Here is a recent page I created:
I really was drawn to the palm leaves and liked how it represented Jesus coming into town. I wanted to create a set of cards to mail out to remind my loved ones of the real reason for Easter.
The cards are rather simple with a few special touches. The kraft card stock is a nice compliment to the green palm leaves and Rinea Foiled paper. I did quite a bit of embossing on these cards to amp up the simplicity of them.
Bible art stamps are not only great for your Bible, but for cards and other projects. A lot of times people really need positive encouragements and reminders that they are loved. There is not better way to show this than through a card made with God’s love.
I am on the Joy Clair blog today with this set of cards. I did a live video making them and was so impressed with them that I knew they needed to be on the company’s blog. The stamp set is gorgeous and this technique is stunning and quick.
It takes a lot to impress me regarding a flower stamp set. Martha’s Garden stamp set by Joy Clair nails it. This set is my favorite flower set I am currently using. I created a set of cards with it and Aqua Flow Markers for a lovely watercolor effect. To take it to the next level I heat embossed the image. This not only gave the card depth and a level of sophistication, it also created borders for the color to pool together. Once each of the cards were dry I added a few Nuvo Dew Drops to finish them off.
Here is a video tutorial on how to create these cards:
Here are the close ups of each of the cards created in the videoThis one is my favorite. I like the color combo and the lovely wash in the white space.
These were so much fun to create and they turned out beautiful. The concept of randomly adding color where I think the image would go was fun. For me, if I stamp the image and then color it in I would not get that loose watercolor feel to the card. I can not wait to play with this stamp set again! What will you create?
Valentine’s Day is my least favorite holiday. Every year when it rolls around I groan a little. I don’t have any particular reason on why I do not like it. It does bring a smirk on my face when I can create sarcastic cards for it though. Joy Clair has a new stamp set that is perfect for all the folks out there who don’t like cupid and his holiday. It is perfectly title “#Single”. I created this card using the new stamp set:

Tim Holtz Distress Oxide is how I created the background. When working with water based pigments it is important to keep the color theory in mind. Basically you want to keep all your red undertone colors(warms) together and blue undertone colors (cools) together. If you mix them you will get mud. That is okay if it is the look you are going for, but if not don’t mix things like green and red. The color that is the exception to this rule is purple. The only colors you can mix purple with are red OR blue. If you mix it with any other color you will get mud for this card I stuck with pink, red and purple (on the bottom).
This card has a square cut out that was created to use as a shaker. It also looks cute with an image in the box. I stamped the hearts and colored them in. I finished them off with a little clear glaze by Nuvo and Dew Drops.
After the sentiment had been stamped on the bottom, three coordinating ones were stamped along the bottom and finished off with the Nuvo Clear Glaze.
If the card front was not enough to make the recipient giggle the inside is sure to do so.
Do you like Valentine’s Day? Let me know in the comments!

This year I was sick for New Year 2019, so I did the next best thing and scrapped 2018!
Last year for New Year’s Eve we had a fun party and took pictures to document the occasion. For the past year I have been trying to get them into our family album, but nothing matched them. I was really struggling until I got my hands on the Hedgehog Hollow December kit! I found a piece of pattern paper from a Halloween line and the rest just fell into place.
To create the title I die cut it on gold glossy card stock and ran it through my sticker maker. The delicate title can be tricky to adhere, but the sticker maker made it easy. If you do not have a sticker maker try using a needle tip and a bit of liquid adhesive. To create the stars I used the same gold glossy card stock and left over glitter paper and star dies from my stash. Black corrugated paper provided the perfect grounding component of the layout while still adding interest.
The coordinating stamps and dies made the perfect embellishments for the page. A few extra things were done to really make them pop! By stamping on black card stock and embossing in gold it keeps the color scheme. Crystal Drops are the perfect finishing touch to the embellishments!
Ironically this layout is my favorite page I have created in a long time!
