Joy Clair Blog Hop — Saved By Grace

Are you ready for another wonderful blog hop? Today the designers for Joy Clair have teamed up to bring you more new stamp projects featuring the new Color Faith line!

My stamp set is the large Saved By Grace. It has the most beautiful doodled flowers and large script words! Alll of my projects are created with gelatos.

Faith Bible Art

This is not my favorite Bible art page I have ever created. I have decided to share it with you because it is the base of what got me started with this set and the gelatos. I learned a lot as I completed it. My intention was to create a watercolor page. By doing so I learned how to use water with the gelatos.

First I tried to create an ombre affect by mixing gelatos with water and painting them on a clear gessoed Bible page. Once it dried, I tried to stamp with the gelatos, but did not like the look, so I stamped with a waterproof ink and colored them in the same way I colored the background. The page was finished off by stamping “Faith” and “Love”.

The Card

To create this card I first stamped a bunch of the words with white and heat set it with embossing powder. I applied my gelatos on top of the stamped image and wipped of the words as I blended out the gelatos.

To create the flowers, I first stamped the images, painted them with gelatos, cut them out and layered them.

This card turned out super cute! A few gems to make up the center and a couple dots of Dew Drops to finish it off.

Grace ATC

My expectations for this ATC were not high. I was not sure how the gelatos would react with the vinyl , but I tried it and ended up liking it a lot!

The texture makes this interesting! To create the ATC, I first stamped the flowers and heat set them. I applied the gelatos directly on the ATC and rubbed it out with my finger. I took a baby wipe and lightly buffed the top of the flowers to let the embossed image shine through for more definition. Grace was stamped with white pigment ink and embossing powder that I heat set. A few dots of Dew Drop was the final touch.

Now it is time to hop! Please hop through all the blogs to see the rest of the fantastic new releases! Don’t forget to leave a comment in each blog along the way.

Be You Card (DCC Hop Featuring Rinea)

I am super excited about today because it is the wonderful Rinea hop with my designer friends from the Designer Craft Connection Blog. This hop is personal because I am not only a design team member on the Rinea team, it also it the company that pulled me back into the industry. The designers in this hop are some of the best in the industry and I actually know a few of them in real life! Needless to say, this hop is special to me.

What is Rinea Foiled Paper?

Rinea Foiled Paper founder grew up in Germany in which she learned how to make a traditional German star using foiled paper. Upon returning to the United States she had a hard time finding the correct paper to pass on the tradition to her family, so she decided to find a manufacturer and bring it here. The name is the first two letters of her children followed by the initial of their last name. Since bringing it to the United States the company has grown into carrying many colors, sizes and tools that can be used with the foiled paper.

My Project

One of the things I am most impressed about Rinea Foiled Paper is how well it cuts delicate dies! For this card I die cute the butterfly and the mandala. I like to die cut two at a time. By cutting it in pairs it allows all the little bits to release from the die easier. I used the Starstruck in Blush to matte the focal point. To distress it I crumpled it up, ran some ink over it and flattened it out. I really like how it flattens back out while keeping the crumpled look. For the dog I cut the hat and cape out of Starstruck Lavender.

I like to mix the foiled paper with regular cardstock on projects otherwise the shine can be overwhelming. By using the foiled paper in place of cardstock in areas it really takes your project to another level.

Hello Beautiful!

The Hello Beautiful kit by The Fairy Tale club is the perfect compliment to my daughter’s Homecoming. Everything from trying on dresses for the dance to the big night goes with this kit! I actually ordered this separately because I had the perfect pictures for it. Once it arrived and I saw all the cute little deer I knew I had even more uses for it! Check out what I was able to create with it!

Everyday Magic

The last weekend of summer break we went up north to escape the heat and spend one last day together before school resumed. One of our stops was at the Deer Farm.

Fairest of Them All

I have mentioned a few times that my daughter is like Snow White in that she communicates with animals like no other. The deer were following her everywhere. It could be because she had food, but we all had food for them. They just liked her best.

True Beauty

Ironically I was having so much fun documenting our trip to the Deer Farm that I forgot about the reason I purchased the kit! Once it dawned on me I created two pages. The first is of my daughter trying on dresses (goofy and all!).

Beautiful Life!

I did not know how I was going to get all of these photos on the same page, but I knew I needed too! I just started layering and they all came together.

My Favorite Car

Funny and heart warming story about this one. I took a close up of the journaling for you to read. The sassy sayings are from Ink Road Stamps — Sass Master set. If you order anything using the link I just provided you will get 15% off your total!

Final Touchs

I really do not add much to these kits by The Fairytale Club. They can be a bit busy, so I always have coordinating card stock. I ink the edges a lot and use pop dots to amp up the style. I almost always add Crystal Drops to everything that comes out of my craft room that is paper related. Here are my top 12 picks!

October Afternoon Christmas Cards

Have you ever ordered a paper line that you did not see in real life and once you finally received it you were less than impressed? That recently happened to me. I found what I thought would be the perfect paper for Christmas. When it finally arrived I just did not like it. I mean it was okay, but it looked like a lot of stuff out there. Plus it was a lot of paper and sticker embellishments — not my thing at all. I did not pay much for it, so I was not upset that I was not in a hurry to use it. Then my husband called and asked if I had any extra cards. I told him I would make him a set. He needed them to give his employees for Christmas. I did not want to use my good stuff or take the time to make them because more than half would probably just end up in the trash (the gift card is the real gem for them). I knew this lime would be awesome for the task at hand. In two hours I created 16 cards. I am surprised to say that not only did I have a great time creating them, they are my favorite ones yet!

I had so much fun creating the cards that I made matching envelopes too. The truth is I just did not want to keep the stickers. I am happy to say that there is nothing left of the line and I got some pretty awesome cards out of it!

To amp up the cards I inked the edges and pop dotted at least one element on each one. I am not a fan of the felt ribbon the kit came with so I cut it apart and used it as embellishments. The focal piece of each card was a die cut from the line as well. I did incorporate a few foam stickers I found at the dollar store as well as poinsettia buttons from my stash.  To finish each card off I added glitter dew drops and clear glaze from Tonic Studios Nuvo brand.

The next time you get something you are not thrilled with don’t discard it. Use it as an opportunity to play with no expectations. You may end up with some of your favorite projects!

Creep It Real

Hello friends! Can you believe it is Halloween in a week? It seems as if summer was just here and now it is gone. Today I am sharing with you three cards that I made with the Hedgehog Hollow October Subscription box and Ink Road Stamps.

For these cards I used pigmented powder! You can find the one in Midnight black here .Lightly mist the substrate first:

 Sprinkle on the pigment:

 Mist again:

Soak up any excess with a paper towel

To color in the pumkin on water color paper use three colors of Aqua Flow Pens by Tonic Studios. Layer the color from lightest to darkest.

¬†Don’t forget the stems!

 Mist with water:

Lay a papertowel over image to dillute color and pick up extra moisture.

 Add Glitter Gloss as accent:

I used pop dots to add to my card:

I used Nuvo Dew Drops on the pumpkins features.

I also created a web with the Dew Drops.

Using the same technique I created two quick cards:

Here is a short tutorial on how to use the Aqua Flow Markers:
Thanks so much for stopping by!
