Layouts with Gears

Kiasercraft has come out with some amazing paper. One line that I am currently obsessed with is Factory 42. It is full of grungy gears. It is perfect for Father’s Day and manly birthday cards. Joann sells some a large variety of buttons. Recently I found gear buttons half off. Between the buttons and the paper line I was able to create three layouts.

The page came together in about 20 minutes. By layering the gears on top of each other along with the paper it creates depth and interest.

This page was a struggle to create. We went to Disneyland literally just to met superheros. I thought I lucked out when my daughter did not want to stand in long lines at the Happiest Place on Earth to meet the princesses when she was little. This must have been payback because we had to wait in long lines to meet these guys. The grungy gears provided the perfect substrate for teenagers and superheros.

I always struggle with Birthdays — especially grown up birthdays. There are very few lines that offer something other than cute for Birthdays. The clocks were the perfect accent to this grown up birthday page.

There are still a few sheets left of Factory 42 and lots of gear buttons. How would you use them?

Purple and Silver Christmas Cards and Purse

I ran across the beautiful Christmas line by Kaiser Craft in July at the Mixed Media Convention in Utah. They gave me a few pieces (stamps, dies, wood pieces and die cuts) to play with at the end of the show and once the paper became available in stores I had to have a few sheets. I created these five cards and purse (that will house a gift card perfectly!) with two sheets of the pattern paper. The Festive Deer Stamp and Sterling Embossing powder by Brutus Monroe had to take center stage!

I tend to get bored and uninspired when I made all the cards the same. I like to mix it up! I could easily give the cards as a set to a family member with a big silver bow or mail them out. This project took me about three hours and I love the elegant nontraditional vibe!
