Christmas in July – Layered Stamp

Today I am combining the old with the new! Layering stamps are totally underrated. If you are like me and not a huge fan of coloring these little gems help us create amazing art! Hero Arts has some of the best layering stamps around. The Christmas tree used on this card is one I have had in my stash for awhile. By pairing it with the new Catherine Pooler ink I was able to create a funky bright off the beaten path Christmas card.

The only Christmas product on this card is the stamp set. The pattern paper is Pink and Main Beach Babe. Once again, it is from my stash. To create the sentiment I did not have matching carstock and did not want to use white. SO, I swiped my Catherine Pooler ink over it, let it dry and stamped on top of it.

Personally, I love to use the non traditional Christmas products and things not meant for a season to create a seasonal project. Usually it turns out striking and memorable.

Concord and 9th Turn About Stamping

I have been secretly lusting after the Turn About stamps by Concord and 9th. I need another stamp set like I need a hole in my head and have done a good job of holding off. Well, that is until I saw the new Bundle Up Stamp Set and coordinating dies! The sweet little girl faces had me, so I placed my order for them along with two Turn About Stamps. Though I adore my new stamps and have had so much fun playing with them there were two things that rubbed me wrong about them. First, the girls are not included with the coordinating die set! I had to fussy cut them out. I would have paid a few dollars more to get them. In fact, I may not have bought the dies had I known the girls were not in it. Secondly, the Turn About stamps were created for the Misti. I don’t have a Misti, but two other stamp platforms. I had to do some tweaking to get them to work, but finally figured it out. Now that I know how to use these on other platforms I will happily purchase more! For those of you that are interested in these stamps here is a video I created showing how to use these on other stamping platforms along with a few hints and tips.

Turn About Video

I used Rinea Foiled Paper  on each card and you can learn how to do that in the video as well!

This would be a perfect card for January!

The little bird sits perfectly on her bun, but her part line is very high and I preferred the bird  covering it.

It is so easy to make your card season just by switching up the ink colors!

Over all I really enjoyed the new (to me) stamp sets! They can be used for so many different occasions. It is a good value!

October Afternoon Christmas Cards

Have you ever ordered a paper line that you did not see in real life and once you finally received it you were less than impressed? That recently happened to me. I found what I thought would be the perfect paper for Christmas. When it finally arrived I just did not like it. I mean it was okay, but it looked like a lot of stuff out there. Plus it was a lot of paper and sticker embellishments — not my thing at all. I did not pay much for it, so I was not upset that I was not in a hurry to use it. Then my husband called and asked if I had any extra cards. I told him I would make him a set. He needed them to give his employees for Christmas. I did not want to use my good stuff or take the time to make them because more than half would probably just end up in the trash (the gift card is the real gem for them). I knew this lime would be awesome for the task at hand. In two hours I created 16 cards. I am surprised to say that not only did I have a great time creating them, they are my favorite ones yet!

I had so much fun creating the cards that I made matching envelopes too. The truth is I just did not want to keep the stickers. I am happy to say that there is nothing left of the line and I got some pretty awesome cards out of it!

To amp up the cards I inked the edges and pop dotted at least one element on each one. I am not a fan of the felt ribbon the kit came with so I cut it apart and used it as embellishments. The focal piece of each card was a die cut from the line as well. I did incorporate a few foam stickers I found at the dollar store as well as poinsettia buttons from my stash.  To finish each card off I added glitter dew drops and clear glaze from Tonic Studios Nuvo brand.

The next time you get something you are not thrilled with don’t discard it. Use it as an opportunity to play with no expectations. You may end up with some of your favorite projects!

Fairy Tale Inspired Christmas Cards

I have been on the hunt for a new paper crafting monthly kit club that specializes in scrap booking. I wanted a kit that was different, whimsical, and bright. After months of looking I found Fairytale Kit club. You can head over to the site to see what came in the Christmas kit. I planned on creating a few layouts for my scrapbook, but I ended up creating these cards!

I pulled in a few things from my stash as well as a couple items I found at the Dollar store to round out the kit.

For the above card I added Nuvo Dew Drops and a white and two silver snowflake I found at the Dollar Store. The ribbon on the edge is from my stash and the rest is the kit!

I adore nontraditional Christmas cards and this one diffidently is that with it’s pink and red background with a little hint of purple.  The white snowflakes are foam that I found at the dollar store.

I found the little green glitter Christmas tree and silver snow flake at the dollar store. One of my favorite things to add to a card are the lace dollies found in the baking section of most craft stores. I added the star to the top of the tree using pop dots and a little glaze from Tonic Studios

I really like all of these cards, but this is my favorite! I added some pink Stickles to make her sparkle on her skirt and hear. Then, I pulled in a mini bow from my Christmas wrapping presents section of my craft room! How cute is that? The little snowflakes are snipped from plastic foliage that one would add to a silk flower arrangment.

Don’t be afraid to add things to a kit to round it out and/or make it more personal. I often find a lot of great things to use on cards and on my layouts outside of the paper crafting section of the craft store.

I created a Pin Up Card with the Holly Jolly Line.

I used Bombshell Stamps from my stash. I was inspired by the sentiments on the Holly Jolly sentiment sheet. This is not the average card. It is a little different in that it is folded to reveal three pin ups. This is how I created the card using one sheet of black 12 by 12 card stock to make this into a 5 by 7.

Cut off a 5 by 12 inch piece of card stock. Trim the other piece to a 7 by 10 inch.

Score the 7 by 10 inch piece in half giving you a base of 5 by 7.

Trim off 1.5 inches from the fron of the card so the back piece peaks through.

Take the 5 by 12 piece and fold it at the 7 inch line.

Place the 5 inch portion of the piece on the back of the card and adhere so it folds like this:

Once you have the card set up the fun part happens — decorating!

I used three different pin ups that I colored with Copic Markers and used my Scan and cut to trim out. This is “Naughty”.

To give the card some more interest I attached this awesome wax like twine in a bow.

This is nice:

I made sure to use a different piece of pattern paper on the inside of the card since it would show through to the front.

Finally, here is Santa Approved complete with wings to show she really is an angel.

The sentiment is from the same sheet, but I added the tattoo style letters.

I wanted this card to be a bit on the edgy side. I am super pleased with how it turned out!

Here is the list of hoppers! Make sure you hop through each blog. I am giving away this card on my blog! Every comment left will be entered to win. Giveaway closes on December 8, 2018!
