Feeling Spooky?

Have you ever used digital downloads on your cards? I must confess that I did not even know they could come in such gorgeous prints until my friend, Linda Israel, introduced me to Calico Collage . I have been hooked ever sense! Not only are the images gorgeous, but they are easy to store (on your computer), cheaper than buying paper, reusable (just print them up as much as you need them) and fast (if you don’t have time to wait for something to ship). I created two cards using a digital print and stamps from Close to my Heart.

I used a Kraft tag that I distressed and popped a spooky sticker on it as the focal point. I then added a few more embellishments and stamped my sentiment.

For this card I stamped the witch from the same stamp set and heat embossed her in black. I cut her out and used pop dots to adhere her to the card.

I added three gems to balance it.

For the sentiment, I stamped it in clear embossing ink, embossed it and added distress ink over the area. I then took a baby wipe and removed some of the ink.

Make sure you check out digital art! It really is a wonderful alternative to traditional paper crafting that can be easily incorporated into your craft. Mix it with some of your stash!

Art From the Heart

Have you ever found something that you love, but want to use it differently than how it is intended to be used? That is what happened when I found this to make heart charms. I really wanted to make a mixed media canvas with the hearts as part of the body and a beautiful clay doll head from Lisa Kettell Designs to create this:

I also had some medal wings and crown by Tim Holtz as well as angel wings from 7Gypsies that were perfect for this piece. I used the new Prima rust paint system with some modeling clay to create the background and used Nuveo Dew Drops to outline the hearts in the body. I recorded the process as a segment in my “Behind the Art” showcasing how it came together. You can watch it here:

Valentine Day ATCs

I am feeling the love right now and decided to create some Valentine theme ATCs using Calico Collage Primitive Hearts and Beauty Secret ATC Bases . I used different parts of pink dollies I have from a set I found on sale at Micheal’s as an embellishment and to keep me interested in finishing all of them – ha! I don’t do well repeating the same thing multiple times. I like variety! The dollies allowed everything to match, but not identical. I made a short tutorial on how to make them here:

Here is a few pictures of the finished set:

Whoops I Almost Forgot!

You know you have done it…..that last minute gift that you forgot to purchase. That happened to me today. In my defense two of my three kiddos are in high school and we don’t do gifts for teachers. I do have a 6th grader and his teacher has a heart of gold. I can’t believe that I forgot about a gift for her. Luckily, it dawned on me that I needed to do something special for her. Check out what I did here:

Joyful Christmas Shaker ATCs!

I have a Christmas swap I am participating in. I decided to mix up the traditional ATC and turn them into shakers! I recently purchased a fuse tool and have developed a fondness for it. It takes about 10 minutes to heat up, but once it is hot it is ready. Make sure to protect your work space because it will damage whatever you run it on. Here is a video on how to use it as well as these cards:

I hope you enjoy!
