Paper Collage Layouts

Once a month I attend my favorite local craft stores crop! What is a crop you may ask? Basically it is a modern day spin on the old quilting bees in which women got together to work on a quilt. Now we get together to paper craft! It is a wonderful time to dedicate to catching up on my scrapbook and socializing with other like minded ladies. Plus, it a great opportunity to support local small businesses! Do you know that 60% of what you spend at your local small business goes right back into your community? Great excuse to shop 🙂

Completed Layouts

After 8 years of basketball my son threw his last basketball because he graduated high school. This layout documents that day. I had a pair of Converse made in his school colors that I wore to every game the last four years — those are pictured to your left. He and I right before he went on the court for the last time takes center stage. Finally, his last warm up. Ironically, this page used the last of the basketball line I have been using to document his basketball career.

To document the prom I used this kit for my son’s page. Yes, it is Sleeping Beauty, but it lent itself well to a princely layout.

My daughter is a junior and was able to go this year too! They posed for some fun photos before heading out individually with their friends and dates.

My daughter and her friends got ready at our house and had a sleep over. It was a great night and they all had a blast.

Of course the girls did some fun photos too! Love these girls and I am so glad my daughter has such a wonderful group of friends that have been around since early elementary school.

One of my friends at the crop hosted wonderful make and take in which we got to create a tag!

Do you have crops at your craft store? I am so blessed that we have one every month! It seriously is my favorite day!

May 2019 All Day Crop!

May 2019 I attended my first all day crop at The Paper Collage! I have not attended a crop in years and never a local one. At this point in my life getting away for a day is easier because my kids are older. I also am craving more adult contact! Add that to the fact that even though I am a scrapbooker at heart I do not do it as much as I like. I plan on attending these monthly because it is a good excuse to do what I love – scrap and talk!

Adventure is Out There

For spring break my daughter and I toured universities. This is a two page layout created with Close to My Heart kit. Though I am not a fan of premade pages I do like this one because I got the entire week on a two page spread! I struggle with two page spreads.

Sweet!

I did not discover these pictures until I was at the crop and had nothing on me that matched. So, I did what every crafter does and went into the store and bought coordinating product! The little red and black embellishments are found objects. The Paper Collage carries a lot of items not intended for paper crafting, but can be used for it.

Banquet 2019

I can’t believe this was the last Basketball Banquet because my son is graduating. The pictures are tiny, so I played on white space and utilized the bottom portion of the page.

Junior Prom

For these pages I used the Happily Ever After Sleeping Beauty Inspired kit. I thought they were just perfect with my daughter’s pink dress. I added a littler Blush Rinea Foiled Paper. Layering and pop dots are key to using these kits because they are beautifully busy.

Ironically I spent more time chatting than crafting and would not change a thing! I can not wait until June’s crop! The theme is mermaids!

Basketball Layouts

Normally I am not a fan of the themed paper lines with coordinating stickers, but sometimes I just have to get pages done. My oldest son plays basketball and a lot of photos have collected over the years. The pictures are pretty good and the diffidently need to be in the album. I picked up the Carta Bella Basketball online. I found basketball gems and foam stickers from Hobby Lobby and bought those. From my stash I pulled out my Nuvo drops. I made these:

Layering different pattern paper with the same color scheme and theme can really take a page from drab to fab!

Sticker usage needs to be strategic as to make sure it does not look like a sticker sneeze. Sometimes all it takes is just one.

By using gems and foam it keeps the page interesting. The Dew Drops pulled the entire layout together.

To create this page clustering the pictures in one corner and off setting it with the title in the other creates balance.

To mask a misplaced measurements stickers can be used.

Once again, careful placement of stickers is key to an eye pleasing page.

Sometimes paper packs are a crafter’s life safer! By incorporating a few simple strategies you can create some cute layouts.
