Geo Metric Card Set

When I received this box I was drawn to the chipboard pieces. I had so much fun creating stained glass effects out of them that I wanted to make sure they got on cards. I have rainbow DecoFoil in my stash and knew it needed to go with the unicorn. The rest just kinda happened.

The January 2019 Hedgehog Hollow box has to be my favorite so far! As a mixed media artist I was a little intimidated by it at first. Everything in it was amazing, but I did not know how I would use all if it, but I did! Sometimes getting out of our comfort zone stretches our creative muscle. We grow as artist and end up creating amazing things. That is what happened with this card set.

I wanted to utilize the stencil in the box. To do so I created several backgrounds with DecoFoil Transfer gel. Transfer gel is easy to use, but it does require time to dry. Therefore, I create several backgrounds at once. My original thought was to create five cards, but I thought it would be fun to clean the palette knife I was using to lay the gel out on a piece of paper. The effect was stunning! Each card was foiled with a different color. I also wanted to use the embellishments I created through out the month. To see how I made them please check out these video tutorials:

Ringing in the New Year with a Layout!

This year I was sick for New Year 2019, so I did the next best thing and scrapped 2018!

Last year for New Year’s Eve we had a fun party and took pictures to document the occasion. For the past year I have been trying to get them into our family album, but nothing matched them. I was really struggling until I got my hands on the Hedgehog Hollow December kit! I found a piece of pattern paper from a Halloween line and the rest just fell into place.

To create the title I die cut it on gold glossy card stock and ran it through my sticker maker. The delicate title can be tricky to adhere, but the sticker maker made it easy. If you do not have a sticker maker try using a needle tip and a bit of liquid adhesive. To create the stars I used the same gold glossy card stock and left over glitter paper and star dies from my stash. Black corrugated paper provided the perfect grounding component of the layout while still adding interest.

The coordinating stamps and dies made the perfect embellishments for the page. A few extra things were done to really make them pop! By stamping on black card stock and embossing in gold it keeps the color scheme. Crystal Drops are the perfect finishing touch to the embellishments!

Ironically this layout is my favorite page I have created in a long time!

Until next time ~ Happy Crafting!
