What is the Las Vegas Market?

I had the privilege of attending the Las Vegas Market Winter 2020 show. What is the Las Vegas Market? It is the world’s largest home decor, interior design, furniture and gift show in the industry held twice a year at the World Market in Las Vegas. There are three 16 story building full of show rooms showcasing the up and coming trends. The majority of these products are not available to the public right now, but they are what is going to be hot in 2020 – 2021. Here are a few pictures from the Las Vegas Market. To see all the pictures, full coverage as well as the companies these come from please follow my Instagram account.

Now, you may be wondering what this has to do with crafting. The trends we see in crafting are taken directly from what is hot in interior design. The crafting community is usually about a year or two behind what is being released in the interior design industry. This is a sneak peak of what will be hot in our industry in the near future.

Upcoming Trends for 2020

The 2020 Color of the Year is Classic Blue. I noticed that gold is being paired with blue instead of silver. In fact, I did not see much silver at all. A clean white palette will make a sharp comeback. Remember the days when having white walls was “out”? Well, white walls are back! The farmhouse style is changing too! Instead of silver and gray it is gold and black. Tribal pieces are not going to be seen much anywhere, but vibrant tropical will be everywhere. Pink Blush will be paired with Classic Blue a lot. The fabric I saw the most of was velvet and faux white fur. White furry chairs, benches and pillows are going to be big. The 1960’s couch and chairs seem to be making a comeback with a twist — scalloped edges. Fresh flowers full of color and greenery were everywhere! The southwest vibe was still present, but not center stage like is has been in 2017-2019. Surprisingly, unicorns, rainbows and sloths are still going to be around for awhile. I saw them everywhere! Snarky sassy humor is taking a center stage in stationary and gifts.

Bringing it Back to Crafting

I was inspired by the Market and wanted to bring it full circle into my craftroom. Therefore, I created this “Mood Board” type journal page to refer to over the next year.
