I recently have signed up for a subscription box with the focus on memory keeping. My first crafty love was scrap booking. I was doing it long before it was a fad. When I got into the art industry I was advised to do more with my planner and mixed media. Those are both enjoyable, but I really miss creating layouts for our family album. Three years ago I was completely caught up in my albums and now I am so very far behind. I have wanted to get back to it and share the paper crafting part of me, but I keep hearing the friendly advice “Just let it go. That is not where it is at for you.” I finally had to ask myself why I was holding myself to someone else’s expectation regarding my hobby and work?
I finally decided to go ahead and plunge back into memory making. Right now my goal is to get caught up. I want things to be pretty of course, but I will feel much better once all my pictures are safely homed in albums. The easiest way for me to stick to it is to purchase a subscription box — which I did! My style is bright and whimsical. I wanted a subscription box that fit that aesthetic. After months of researching I found The Fairy tale Kit Club and knew it was the one. It is a “flat kit” in that there are not a lot of bulky products in it. At first I was a little panicked when I saw how much paper goods there were in it, but then I remembered that this is for my albums that I want to lay flat.
With the December Dreams Kit I created three layouts.
For this layout I pulled in blue glitter sticker letters and a pink dollie.
One of the challenges I faced while using The December Dreams Kit was working with bold pattern paper. Through playing with the paper in the box I learned that it is pleasing to the eye to mix the patterns as long as I used contrasting colors.
One of our favorite holiday traditions is to see the lights! This kit was perfect for documenting that!
I am hopeful that in 2019 I will be able to catch up on my scrapbook. What do you think? Is scrap booking not where it is at or do you still enjoy it? Please answer in the comments. I will send one person a little Christmas cheer in their mail from the comments. The Winner will be announced on December 19, 2018.
Until next time ~ Happy Crafting!
